We kindly invite You to our concert in the eve of Eniovden. Eniovden, or Saint John's Eve, is a beloved traditional Bulgarian holiday, celebrating Midsummer (the summer solstice) on the 24th of June, and it is closely related to similar holidays throughout Europe.
The concert will take place in the Russian Culture & Information Center in Sofia, on the 23rd of June at 19:00. Together with our friends from "Grom Padina" folklore music band and "Divlya" folkore dance school, we will present You with a potpourri of authentic songs, music pieces and dances.
"Divlya" started as an initiative of a group of friends, who really wanted to learn a few horo dances and broaden their knowledge of Bulgarian folklore. It changed into a folklore dance school in 2006, and since 2010 it has been the official folkore song and dance ensemble of Sofia's "Nature and Science - 1938" community center. The group performes authentic and staged pieces from all ethnographic regions of Bulgaria.
"Grom Padina" was established in the summer of 2012 by amateur lovers of a ccapella diaphonic singing. Depending on the current line-up, the band also plays kaval (a type of wooden flute), tarambuka (close to a goblet drum), tambura (similar to a mandolin) and other instruments. The emphasis in the repertoire is on capella diaphonic songs. The band has participated at several folklore fairs, as well as at different concerts. The members mainly seek to preserve the original sound of the Pirin region folklore, but also that of the Shopluk and Rhodope regions.
We are all eagery expexting you.
